Abstract
Peyronie¢¥s disease is characterized by formation of fibrous plaque intimately involved with tunica albuginea of the penis.
The plaque is most common on the dorsal surface of the corpus cavernosum.
High resolution ultrasonography is the best imaging modality for penis without hazard of irradiation to testes. We evaluated sonographic findings of. 5 cases of Peyronie¢¥s disease in Korea university hospital during recent 8 months.
The results were as follows:
1. The age distribution was 39 to 50 years old (46.6 years old of mean age).
2. Clinical features were palpable nodule in 4 case, pain on erection in 3 cases. Symptom durations were 3 to 12 months (mean 7 months).
3. Locations of lesion were dorsal aspect in 2 cases, dorsal and lateral in 1, dorsal and ventral in 1 and ventral in 1 case. Dorsal aspect was the most common location.
4. Nodular lesions were found in 4 cases, and plaque form in 1 case. Three cases among the nodular lesions were calcified and accompanied by acoustic shadowing.
5. Nodules were found in middle one-third of penile length in 3 cases, plaque of entire length with distal ventral nodule in one, and the last case showed small nodules in the entire length.
6. Tunica albuginea of corpus cavernosum were involved in all cases, and a lesion was seen between tunica albuginea and Buck¢¥s fascia.
7. The sonographic findings of Peyronie¢¥s disease are focal or diffuse thickening of tunica albuginea, nodule formation and calcification. These findings are most common on dorsal aspect of middle one third of penis.
